COVID-19: New Feels Like Home Cancellation Policies
Read our first article of the COVID-19 series, regarding new policies and updates on international and Greek travel regulations.
With this global crisis putting the world somewhat on pause, it’s critical to consider how our guests are affected, and what we can do to accommodate every request, keeping always in mind the uncertainty of times and international travel restrictions.
As property managers and professional hosts amid this new reality, we play a key role in being able to give travellers not just the physical security of a roof over their head, but also the peace of mind that we will be there to help no matter how quickly the situation changes.
Read below our updated policies and how we try to show our guests the true meaning of hospitality. These are applicable to all reservations for 2020, no matter when the reservation was made or the actual check in date (be it June or September, for example)
DON'T CANCEL, RESCHEDULE
Given that travel regulations are very strict at the moment, with most flights cancelled and borders closed, we understand that travelling is beyond our guests’ control - and it should be, for protecting everyone’s health as much as possible. As it is likely that these travel restrictions will remain in place for the months to come, it is important for us to stay proactive.
For guests with bookings in the next couple of months who are likely to cancel due to COVID-19, we would be more than happy to reschedule their reservation for a later date this year.
The reservation could be transferred to a later period in 2020, and the deposits guests have already paid will be offered as credit towards this future stay. We must be informed about this change at least 2 weeks in advance.
This could be the best possible solution if you were planning on attending a local event that you already know has been rescheduled (and its exact dates) or if the airline is offering credit for a future trip as well. This way you will be able to enjoy your trip or holidays as planned, only with a small delay.
*Please note this could result in a change of price. If your reservation was for May, and you transfer it to August, daily rate will be higher. If you had a reservations for July and you transfer it to September, daily rate will be lower. Final price will be recalculated accordingly.
One of the most important outcomes of this situation is the uncertainty regarding travelling and for how far into the future these measures will be implemented. We understand that for many travelers, canceling a trip is a huge disappointment, but in certain cases it can be the only solution during the quarantine.
Trying to delay cancellations until the situation is clearer or until new regulations are issued by governments, Feels Like Home is willing to offer a full refund for cancellations up to 2 weeks before arrival.
This should give the majority of our guests plenty of time to reach a decision, reschedule, try to find an alternative or change their plans according to travel regulations, even if things change last minute, based on facts (a cancelled flight, closed borders, self-quarantine for 14 days upon return to their countries).
If rescheduling seems impossible at the moment and cancelling your stay is the only solution, we will be most certainly looking forward to hosting you next year, in one of our private homes.
We understand that you may be feeling the effects of COVID-19 in other ways, whether that’s a canceled event, a lost job, or a sick loved one, and we keep that in mind every time we receive a cancellation request.
We are proud to say that our responses will always be full of kindness and empathy, and we are willing to hold the deposits paid as voucher for a future stay until the end of 2021, in the same house you have booked or any other home from our portfolio.
